It’s out of normal for me to comment about this topic since I’m not really familiar about Muslim things but it arouse my curiosity while a president could earn fatwa during his official visit as released by ABC news.
From About Islam web, here is the definition of ‘fatwa’ =>
A fatwa is an Islamic religious ruling, a scholarly opinion on a matter of Islamic law.
A fatwa is issued by a recognized religious authority in Islam. But since there is no hierarchical
priesthood or anything of the sort in Islam, a fatwa is not necessarily “binding” on the faithful. The people who pronounce these rulings are supposed to be knowledgable, and base their rulings in knowledge and wisdom. They need to supply the evidence from Islamic sources for their opinions, and it is not uncommon for scholars to come to different conclusions regarding the same issue. As Muslims, we look at the opinion, the reputation of the person giving it, the evidence given to support it, and then decide whether to follow it or not. When there are conflicting opinions issued by different scholars, we compare the evidence and then choose the opinion to which our God-given conscience guides us.
This fatwa is earned by Pakistan’s new president, Asif Ali Zardari. Zardari; who is the widower of Benazir Bhutto; earned the fatwa from the prayer leader of Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad because of his flirt to US VP nominee Sarah Palin; who was the second runner-up of Alaska beauty pageant; during his official visit to New York last week. Zardari was stunned over the sexy Paling and commented such a wonderful word of : “Now I know why the whole America is crazy over you”, it didn’t stop there… When Zardari was asked to keep shaking hands with Palin to take more picture, he said : “If he’s (the aide) insisting, I might hug you.”
The last sentence Zardari said created anger towards Pakistani people while under the capacity as a head of state from a Muslim country plus during official visit (which absolutely representing the whole country), Zardari has embarassed his country people.
Well… from my own personal opinion, it’s normal for human being especially man (plus a widower) get stunned when facing a beautiful lady straight in front of her
But during unofficial meeting for sure, where there’s no camera in front of him… :p
How about your opinion???
